I love listening to your podcasts and can't wait for the next one.
Thank you so much for your podcast story. I enjoyed relating to your feelings, anxieties, and humor.
We've only had one foster child so far, and it wasn't for long. It would have driven you nuts... We're at the end of re-certifying with an agency because the county experience was semi-insane. I felt so alone and so hopeless... An agency is necessary for sanity, I think. I think it could be mastered if you don't work, have a social worker in the family, are extremely organized, and are a natural advocate-type. (I only have the latter ingredient.)
I was inspired and a little relieved to hear that your and your husband both work but took in two. We were considering two but are not licensed for two. Your story was a little push that made me feel like maybe we can do siblings, and we just have to find that bunk bed on Craigslist!
I wanted to let you know that your court experience was very similar to family court. It's helpful to others to hear your description, in preparation. I am a writer, but not a storyteller like you are. I was having flashbacks to my husband's custody cases, and your kids' mom was exactly the same... Boy oh boy do we relate, and trust me, it's always nice to hear someone else witness the same that we did and get through it with grace.
For those of us trying to fight for others, we need to know the good- and bad- stories of others. I'm sure it was emotionally exhausting to relive some of that via podcast, but maybe you're like me and have more clarity each time.
Thank you & godspeed.
Loved your podcast. You are a great storyteller and seemingly an amazing dad. I can't believe there's not another episode with the court case! Blessings to your family!
